Membership is required to participate or compete in all CORA events.

Junior Informed Consent

JUNIOR INFORMED CONSENT AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RISKS
***PLEASE READ CAREFULLY***

IN CONSIDERATION OF the membership of the junior member named in this membership registration (the “Junior Member”) in the CANADIAN OUTRIGGER RACING ASSOCIATION (“CORA”) and permission to participate in the sanctioned events of CORA hosted by CORA and its member clubs between and including January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024 (the “Events”), I, the undersigned parent or legal guardian of the Junior Member, hereby acknowledge and agree as follows:

AWARENESS OF RISK: I confirm that I am aware that the participation of the Junior Member in the Events involves risks inherent in paddling sports, both on and off the water, including risk of personal injury, death, property damage, expense and related loss, including, without limitation, loss of income and such risks arising from the negligence of CORA and its member clubs and/or other participants and owners of the facilities where the Events will occur and their respective directors, officers, officials, employees and volunteers (collectively, the “Hosts”) and from other Event participants. I confirm that the Hosts make no representations as to the Junior Member’s safety during the Events or the condition of any canoes or equipment provided for the Events. I have informed the Junior Member of the risks associated with participating in the Events.

INFORMED CONSENT: I am the parent or legal guardian of the Junior Member and I hereby freely consent to the Junior Member’s participation in the Events. I acknowledge that the Junior Member is voluntarily participating in the Events for his or her benefit and enjoyment, despite being informed of the risks associated therewith.

MEDIA RELEASE: I hereby grant CORA and its directors, officers, officials, members, volunteers, professional photographers and the media the absolute right and permission to take during the Events, and to use and publish, photographs of the Junior Member, still or moving, with or without the Junior Member’s name, and to reproduce same through any media, for artistic, promotional, advertising, web content or other commercial and non-commercial purposes, and neither I nor the Junior Member shall be entitled to any monetary compensation of any kind in respect thereof.

GENERAL PROVISIONS: This Agreement shall be binding on not only me, but my next of kin, heirs, executors, administrators and assigns. If any provision of this Agreement is held invalid or unenforceable, it will be severed herefrom and will not affect the validity or enforceability of the remainder hereof. This Agreement sets out the entire agreement between the parties regarding the subject matter hereof and may not be amended. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada.

I CONFIRM THAT THE JUNIOR MEMBER HAS READ AND UNDERSTANDS THE RISKS DESCRIBED ABOVE.

I CERTIFY THAT I (i) AM THE PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN OF THE JUNIOR MEMBER NAMED HEREIN WITH THE RIGHT TO CONSENT TO SUCH JUNIOR MEMBER’S PARTICIPATION IN THE EVENTS; (ii) HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT BEFORE SIGNING IT; AND (iii) BY SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT AM GIVING UP CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS THAT I OR MY LEGAL REPRESENTATIVES MAY HAVE.

I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONSULT A LAWYER FOR INDEPENDENT LEGAL ADVICE.
