Although the 2026 Wai Nui Why Not event on 2026-Aug-8/9 is not a CORA sanctioned event, Wai Nui O Kanaka is a 2026 CORA Member Club. Likewise, while the 2026 Toronto International Outrigger Challenge (TIOC) on 2026-Sep-19 is not a CORA sanctioned event, TSCC Maka Koa Outrigger is a 2026 CORA Member Club. The 4 Arm Fiasco Race is a new race taking place in Port Alberni, BC on Sproat Lake (Voted the BEST lake in BC). The race weekend is designed so that racers can race 1, 2, 3 or all 4 courses. There will be an award for ‘overall champion’ (fastest time for all courses combined in each category). There is a 20% discount applied to race fees if you register for the whole series. If a team (OC6/OC2) is competing for the overall champion title the same paddlers must race all courses. The race is hosted by the Sproat Lake Canoe Club. Race categories: SUP, Ski, V1, OC1/2, OC 6 for all race courses The 5K race is open to any human powered vessel (war canoe, dragon boat, kayak, canoe)

OFFICIAL CREWS – For official status, on every second lap, your crew must be all women, while the other laps can have all men or any mix of women and men. The lap sequence will be determined later and announced to the participants.
UNOFFICIAL CREWS – each crew can be any mix of women and men.
40K CHANGE RACE – Open Boats
This race is a 40 km team event, consisting of 8 laps of 5 km each.
20K CHANGE RACE – Junior Boats (Under 18)
This race is a 20 km team event, consisting of 4 laps of 5 km each.
RACE OUTLINE – Running Start, left turns around the two buoys, and your club’s/team’s choice of beach or water change (off to the side) every 5KM. You can schedule full or partial crew changes as you like, noting the requirement of alternating all-women crews for official status. Awards will go to the top crews in the Official and Unofficial crew categories.
NUTRITION & HYDRATION – Vernon Paddling Centre will provide snacks and water for all participants before and during the race at the shelter, with a lunch afterwards. Please pass along if there are any food allergies.
