CORA Off-the-Water Video Forum Series

All CORA members and friends are invited to join our regular Off-the-Water Video Forum Series.
For Fall Winter, each month we will host either a Town Hall forum or a Coach Panel forum.

Sessions will be held on Saturdays or Sundays at 4:00 pm (Pacific).

Upcoming sessions:

  • Sunday, June 23rd, 2024 @ 4:00pm Pacific / 7:00pm Eastern.
    Mental Performance Coaching with Kirsty MacMillan.
    Elements of mental toughness explained, and practical tools and strategies to be given.

Opportunities for questions will be provided in the latter half of the 90-minute session and through the “chat” function.  The presentation will be recorded and posted for those with scheduling conflicts.

  • This discussion is hosted and led by CORA board directors with some hand-picked experts with knowledge and resources to make our members’ experiences with solo boats safe, productive, fun and rewarding.
  • Bring your questions. Here’s the range of topics we’re expecting to discuss…
    • tips and tricks for rigging boats
    • tips and tricks for safely tying down boats to vehicles and transporting via car- and truck-top
    • anyone tried to rig a boat on a beach? well, sand in your rigging is worse than sand in your shorts (there are solutions to this)
    • best practices for cleaning solo boats
    • storage tips: how to clean and protect your boat’s painted and mixed media surfaces

CORA Coach Panel #5: Solo Boat Stroke Technique

Come with questions about stroke technique to enhance your paddling efficiency, speed and confidence on the water. CORA board directors, community coaches and racers Rob Magus (Vancouver), James Hill (Victoria), Kamini Jain (Vancouver) and Leanne Stanley (Kelowna) will provide technical overviews, scenario reviews and facilitate Q&A from the audience. This will be a fun and informative discussion. All paddlers, from novice to advanced, are invited and encouraged to attend. Paddles up!

Are you and your crew looking for new races to try? Now is the time to start training and planning for the races on your bucket list. In this week’s town hall, the discussion will delve into OC races in Canada and the continental USA. Join the conversation and learn or share your experiences with the water conditions, competition and logistics of racing in some of North America’s great outrigger canoe races.
