Location: Skaha Lake, Penticton
Mandatory safety meeting at Skaha will be 12:45 pm.
Race start 2:30 pm.

11.2 km length of Skaha Lake. The race is downwind, we go from either OK Falls beach or Skaha Lake beach depending on the direction of the wind.

Mass Start. No drafting allowed to reflect the downwind nature of the event.

CORA Insurance Day rate: $10.00 (if not already a member)
Format: Open to OC-1, OC-2, OC-6, Surf Ski

There will be a meeting at Skaha lake to announce the race direction. All boats should be there but not unloaded.
Allow 45 minutes to shuttle boats/vehicles and be ready for race start at 2:00 pm.

Race start 2:30 pm (allows for boats/vehicles to be shuttled).
IMPORTANT SAFETY STUFF!: All racers must be self sufficient and able to look after themselves. Lifejackets and leashes are mandatory and must be worn on your body.

The spectacular golden colours of the fall season offer a crisp setting for your race day in historic Fort Langley BC. Fort Langley’s many establishments offer you time to eat and shop. Take your family and friends and enjoy the historic charms of Fort Langley after you post your personal best.

THE DETAILS

This is a CORA-sanctioned race and you must be a CORA member.

The Race Course is a flatwater 10-12 Kilometre loop up the Fraser and around Brae Island. It is a race for any and all paddlers.

Race Day Schedule, Saturday October 28:

• 9:30 Pre-Race Meeting
• 10:00 Race – Mass Start
• 11:45 Awards / Prizes

Cost:

• Small Boats: $30 per boat ($15 Juniors)
• You will not be considered registered until you have paid your registration fee.

CORA recognized that there were many individuals who had made “Significant and Exemplary Contributions” to Canadian outrigger canoeing, but their stories had never been captured, and they had never been formally recognized. CORA spent January 2021 thru June 2023 tracking down this history, and fact-checking as best as possible the exploits of those individuals who founded CORA, who founded / nurtured CORA clubs, who inaugurated / perpetuated races, who excelled at IVF / Molokai / Catalina / Queen Liliuokalani events, and who designed / built / imported / distributed canoes to grow the sport.

As of the August 2023 CORA Board Meeting there were 7 individuals inducted into the Canadian Outrigger Hall Of Fame for 2023.

Lotus Sports Club had graciously offered to host a Canadian Outrigger Canoeing Hall Of Fame presentation for the 7 inductees at the Lotus CORA Cup Championship Iron event on the July 22/23 weekend to recognize these individuals, but none of the Inductees could attend. CORA will have an online Town Hall in November of this year to recognize the inductees for 2023.
