Women’s OC1 / OC2 Stroke Improvement Clinic

The coaches of Latitude 48 are excited to host a women’s OC1 / OC2 stroke improvement clinic on September 23, 2017.

This 4 hour clinic is geared toward developing the technique, skills and confidence of female paddlers.
With a maximum enrollment of 12 athletes, this clinic will allow a coach to athlete ratio of 1 to 4 or better allowing our coaches to focus on the specific needs of each athlete.

The clinic will include:
9 am start with on land discussion of the technical aspects of the stroke with on land exercises to demonstrate concepts
9:45 – on water instruction with drills to increase comfort, stability in the small boats and good stoke mechanics.
10:30- work on starts and interval piece and take video
11:45 Video analysis
12:30 back on the water to work on specific technique as identified from video review.

As an added bonus, interested paddlers will also receive a 3 week training plan in preparation to race the Bridges inny or outty race OC1 / OC2 race.

Double-Hull Orientation Coaching Clinic

Creekside Paddling Centre in Vancouver (Olympic Village)

Dragon Zone will be hosting an outrigger canoe double-hull clinic at Creekside Paddling Centre in Vancouver (Olympic Village).

The clinic has been rescheduled to Sunday January 22, 2017 due to expected cold and icy conditions on Sunday January 8, 2017.

Format

  • There will be four 1.5 hour sessions.
  • Two outrigger canoe double-hulls will be provided for each of the 4 sessions.
  • Each 1.5 hour session will consist of a dry-land and an on-water component.

The dry-land component will cove:

  • CORA membership registration
  • CORA rigging resources
  • CORA race rules
  • local / international double-hull events
  • race day planning
  • event etiquette
  • double-hull rigging / paddling / steering

The on-water component will cover paddling / steering for 500M OC Sprints (lanes / staging / starts) courses and 5K triangle distance courses.

Registration

CORA Coaching Clinic Grant of $600 will enable setting fees at $15/person.

Paddlers may register as individuals or as teams.
